This week we present a knife from our Shastra series which was created on a special request of Chef-owner Heinz Reitbauer from Restaurant Steirereck in Vienna. The bread knife with it’s incredible 32 cm blade lenght is the perfect companion for the unique assortment of 20 home baked breads which are offered fresh each day and presented by the restaurants own bread-somilier.
As all our knives from the Shastra series the hilt is made from ebony wood and comes with sterling silver applications. The blade was hand-forged by Master blacksmith Empu Ketut Mudra to 160 layers of damascus pattern with the K460 steel as the middle layer and cutting edge at 1.1% carbon.
The hand-made serrated edge cuts through the thickest brown bread like butter and raises real joy. We hope this knife finds its special home where the owner knows that bread is not only bread and a knife is not only a knife.
